Bentonite clays, like B80, adsorb polar impurities due to their polar charge. However, the natural humidity in bentonite can affect filtration by altering the pH of oil when exposed to butane/oil solutions. To avoid this, it's recommended to bake the clay media at 212°F or higher for 6-8 hours (or 1-3 hours in a roto) before use. B80 is a cost-effective, pH-neutral, unprocessed scrubbing media that retains aromatics without isomerization. Always ensure the media bed stays soaked to prevent channeling, which can occur from moisture or draining too quickly.
